Xurea® Foot balm is a paraffin free formulation which has been specially formulated with the patient in mind. Thanks to the combination of sixteen actives including, urea, glycerin, shea butter and sunflower oil, the balm immediately hydrates, providing a smooth, non-greasy feel.
Emollients are known to be effective in the management of dry skin and are recommended as part of the routine foot care regimen in people with diabetes (NICE, 2004). XUREA® Foot balm has not been studied in Diabetics but is an effective emollient where there is problematic dry or rough skin. As with any emollient do not use on open wounds or broken skin and avoid use around the toes.
Xurea® Foot balm is made in England.
Xurea® Foot balm Plus contains a powerful formula of 16 active ingredients. It is manufactured using the highest quality ingredients.
Ingredients: (all synthetically derived or of vegetable origin)
Urea (18%), glycerin (11%), shea butter (5%) lactic acid, sodium lactate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetearyl alcohol, xanthan gum, sunflower oil, dimethicone, aqua, glyceryl stearate, stearic acid, sodium levulinate, sodium anisate, tocopherol acetate, sodium phytate, bisabolol, citric acid.
Xurea® Foot balm contains no perfume, no lanolin, no SLS and no added fragrances.
The optimal pH value of skin on most of our face and body lies between 4.7 and 5.75. A pH of 7 (that of pure water) is considered neutral. Anything below that is acidic and above it alkaline, so skin’s natural pH is mildly acidic. This mildly acidic pH is created by skin’s acid mantle, the water part of the hydrolipid film that protects the external layers of skin.
Some soaps, creams and foot balms contain chemicals with an alkaline pH and these can be particularly detrimental to skin pH as they can overtax the skin’s natural neutralising capability, damage cell structure and impair the skin’s protective barrier. As a result, skin can dry out and become sensitive or even hypersensitive.
The pH of XUREA® Foot Balm is between 5 and 5.5 so it is perfectly matched to the natural pH of the skin so there is less chance of local irritation on application.
In usual use a 100ml container can last up to one month if applied once a day. For feet that require intense hydration it is recommended to use the product twice a day for the first few weeks, decreasing to once a day based on improvement of the foot condition.
XUREA ® Foot balm must not be used if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients contained in the product. Avoid contact with eyes. It is for external use only and should be kept out of reach of children. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Once opened the product should be used within 12 months. Store out of reach of children and at room temperature.
